The tales of sisters, friends and lovers is part of the body of work For the love of drawing, a series on lifedrawing in pencil.
The pencil drawings are all between A3 and A2 in size and completed in certainly no more than 10 minutes per sketch.
Drawing to me is the purest form of art.
The artist is fully exposed. What he draws and then how he draws it, but also equally significant what he doesn’t draw, and how he does that.
The artist cannot hide behind bright colours, or layers of paint and printmaking techniques. I love the simple beauty and intimacy of a pencil drawing; the grainy texture, soft and sharp, and with a light sheen, all within one medium.
And drawing from life is the best.
