Artist’s Commentary

I worked in ink using a bespoke calligraphy nib. This tool delivers expressive marks which varies at the angle it touches the paper. The hybrid art pieces consist of printmaking and oriental techniques, liquid metal gold paint and more traditional art material such as compressed charcoal. A bespoke calligraphy tool and Japanese ink is used to achieve dynamic and expressive mark-making. This work is presented on lengthy scrolls of Xuan rice-paper.
