Just a Bairn and Schubert explores what young people are exposed to in the real world on the bustling streets of Aberdeen city centre in terms of the actions and speech of other young people and adults. Just a Bairn is a scene from The Shelter, an interdisciplinary collaboration combining live drawing in Japanese ink and a multi-voiced verbatim performed by Creative writer Shane Strachan. This clip below introduces the scene Just a Bairn. It captures young kids at play and is supported by Schubert Impromptu op. 142 No.3 B flat major portraying the lightness of their running feet and free spirit of children. Just a Bairn is transformed into an audio-visual installation and standalone art work consisting of Japanese ink on rice-paper.
